The Japanese Godzilla A.K.A Nissan GTR will be launching this 25 July 2009. We were lucky to receive the updated version of the 2010 Nissan GTR in Brunei Darussalam. A world class supercar begins with world class engineering and design. This car is an absolute must see for any automobile enthusiast.
Nissan has been at the drawing board for years honing and shaping the amazing new shape of GTR. The new Nissan GTR features an all New 3.8 liter twin turbo V-6 engine mated to a 6 speed dual clutch sequential gearbox. The engine engine is qeuipped with 480 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. It can launch standstill from 0 to 100km/h at 3.5 second and many believe tested by online motoring at 3.3 seconds with the updated version 2010. The updated gearbox modification is by lowering the maximum RPM levels at launch, less wheel spin occurs and the car launches of the line both quicker and more smoothly. That’s a biggest benefit for the new owner of GTR in Brunei Darussalam
Differences with the 2009 and 2010 GTR
i didn’t noticed big changes on the exterior between the GTR’s excepts for the 2010 wheels rims are darker, equipped with head lamp washer, additional rear fog lamp, front license plate base removed and Brembo Calipers rebadged into Nissan.

The wildly-styled UK Civic Type-R is already a phenomenal handling vehicle and with the emergence of a more raw JDM-only Civic Type-RR, the Brits are starting to feel a bit left out. Not for long.

According to Evo, Mugen will share some of the JDM components with the UKDM 3-door Type-R sometime next year. While already a quick little front-wheel-drive monster, the addition of a 237 horsepower 2.0-liter iVTEC inline-four should help push the spaztic little guy even further. Rather than add a ton of go-fast bits, Mugen will remove the rear seating, sound deadening and a few other features, while adding revised, lower and stiffer suspension, potential Brembo brakes, 18-inch forged wheels and lightweight Recaro buckets. All this in the name of going fast.
What’s the reason for all this hoopla you ask? Well it seems that the RenaultSport Megane R26.R is a bit faster around the Bedford Autodrome West Circuit than the UKDM Civic Type-R’s 1min29.3sec lap. Sounds like a new battle for hottest hatch will rage on come next year when the UKDM Mugen Civic Type-RR reveals its purposeful self. Now if we could just get them to release these cars in the States.

A few weeks ago I went out with the Midnight Mechanics crew to shoot their two Toyotas. The afternoon consisted of a crisp drive to the east coast of QLD, also known as the Gold Coast. A well known hot spot for Australian tourists. We decided to choose more of a natural and calming location, Springbrook Mountain. Springbrook is located about 20minutes inland from the beach pushing a few hundred metres high. For these two JDM vehicles they where both right at home in the mountains, with the lovely…

More of a full-frame to capture more detail, the AE71 really brushes up well when its clean with the JDM front end it really sets off.

Here is a section of Springbrook Mountain as we stopped on the way up just to take some photos, there are some really nice corners all throughout.

A little road which led off the main road. This was a cool little road which had a number of trees running along side it. Many cars came through whilst i was laying on the ground and Grant & Jase holding the two off camera flashes to help with the lighting situation. All in all i think they came out okay for my first time using a couple of strobes.

The boys with their toys, I think this photo pretty much sums up the day as it is a nice photo of them both with there favourite toys.

Rumor has it that Japanese-based auto maker Honda, will launch a high performance MugenCivic Type R hatch, that would be good for 240HP, outputted by a 2.0-liter VTEC four-cylinder powerplant.
The Mugen Civic Type R will also feature a re-tuned suspension to improve road holding, sports tires, sporty interior without rear seats, as well as carbon fiber body kit body treatment. The new Mugen Civic Type R is expected to be launched this fall in the UK, and should be priced anywhere between £35,000-£40,000.

What a week-end this has been! Two days of non-stop drifting as the D1 Street Legal guys battled it out at Ebisu circuit. I am beyond sleep deprived, so you will have to wait until tomorrow for a proper post on this action-packed event. For now, I’ve selected some teaser shots to keep you happy, but I’ll be posting a lot more in the coming days, so make sure you check back!

It has been a few years since I covered a Street Legal event and I was stunned at how both the cars and drivers have evolved!

Due to the less high-profile nature of the event the whole atmosphere is far more relaxed, but the action is simply as awesome as in the top level Grand Prix rounds.

I finally got to see the Blitz 180SX in action, a car I had seen at Ebisu before parked up in the paddock. Hagisako was driving great all week-end and coped very well with the rain.

Yes, rain, and lots of it! As the first group went out for the morning qualifying the sky turned a menacing shade of gray, as what can only be described as torrential rain, began to lash down. Within a matter of minutes the track was soaked and the session was suspended.

This is what the drop into the main straight looked like after ten minutes!

…which made for some excellent action. Most drivers let a lot of air out of their tires to cope with the slippery surface.

Kazama Auto and Moty’s were out in full force this weekend with a total of five cars, including the JZX110 and the S15 Silvia.

As ever the tire changing machine at Minami was under constant use!

Here is Tezuka with his Kids Heard RB26-powered ER34 Skyline. He is one of only a couple D1-GP drivers still participating in Street Legal. Rie Shinmi was out on Saturday with the Kids Heard ER34 4-door, the same car we saw in April at Nikko for the Queen Battle.

Kitaoka behind the wheel of the red MarkII was driving like a bat out of hell all week-end long, making it into the Best 16.

The final battle was between a pair of S15 Silvias driven by Jikuya, in the red GP Sports machine and Nakamura, who will probably look familiar to those who followed JR’s Japan tour!

Both drivers put on a stunning display of perfect drifting but it was Nakamura in the end who managed to grab first place. I guess all the street-drift practice has paid off! There is much more action to check out from this week-end, including some night drifting! Don’t miss the next installment from Ebisu!

Honda’s space-egg Civic Type-R hasn’t exactly managed to build the same sort of enthusiast following as its predecessor, but that hasn’t stopped U.S. motorheads from fawning over its edgy three-door shape, or from carping about how we don’t get one in the States. While that isn’t set to change, there may soon be a new model that’s really worth crying over, as EVO is reporting that renowned tuner Mugen is fixing to build an even hotter Type-R variant.

According to the UK publication, the Mugen-spec Type-R will build on the success of the Mugen RR sedan (shown), taking some of its key bits (upgraded suspension, perhaps the bigger Brembo brakes, 18-inch wheels). It will likely also inherit that car’s lightweight Recaro buckets and ditch the rear seats altogether for weight savings.
EVO notes that the current Mugen RR sedan’s 2.0-liter engine makes 237 bhp (versus 198 bhp from the factory), with 160 pound-feet of torque ¬– a 10% increase over a stock Type-R. The mooted three-door liftback would likely receive similar power.

In the UK’s typically price-inflated market, EVO reckons the Mugen CTR will probably cost more than £35,000 – a gobsmacking $58,000.

Jun is not your regular tuner, they basically don’t care how cool the car looks, they focus on what’s under the bonnet of your car… And are working like crazy to get the most out of your engine in order to blast records.

Even if the last Tokyo Auto Salon was far from most exciting, Jun chose to tease us a little with their new JUN Impreza GRB, a new Jun wonder that’s still currently under development… Don’t expect to get a figure now, sorry guys, but I can tell you that Jun will once more prove to us they can do amazing things with an engine!

The boys over at Subaru Tecnica International must have some extra time on their hands lately. Sure, they opened a museum recently, and may have even lent a hand with Ken Block’s new Gymkhana ride. But after canceling their iconic World Rally Championship program, we can mentally picture the tumbleweed rolling through their garage. Thankfully, if the latest rumors from Nihon Car are any indication, the STI crew may have a new project on their hands: a racing version of the new Legacy for the Japanese local Super GT series.
Although details are few and far between at this point, the Legacy STI would reportedly compete in the series’ second-tier GT300 class, not in the top-level GT500. The GT300 category closely mirrors production car specs, so don’t expect any wild conversions, but STI would surely push the envelope here, especially considering that their super-sedan would have to dice it with the likes of Porsche GT3s and race-prepped Ferraris and Lamborghinis.
Privateer team Cusco won a race last year at Sepang with a GT300-spec Impreza, where the all-wheel-drive proved an advantage, but there’s no telling what could happen if Subaru throws the weight of its factory support behind a works racing effort.

Godzilla —a techno-marvel capable of taking the thrill of driving and convince you that you’re playing a racing simulator. Now you can store that simulator on your very own Nissan GT-R 500GB hard drive.

Currently up for grabs on Ebay for a much-cheaper-than-the-real-thing price of $51; this one-off was created using a 1/18th scale Jada Toys Nissan GT-R mated with loving and delicate care to a 500GB Seagate 2.5 inch hard drive. The doors and hood still open revealing a fully detailed engine bay and interior. To access your new desktop racer, a USB 2.0 interface is located in the rear along with a supplied 6-foot USB cable. Better get cracking ’cause this is the first and currently, only one of its kind and with a little over 8 days remaining, we’re sure the price will skyrocket.

The folks over at Vizualtech, the 3D rendering firm that brought you the Audi R8-inspired catamaran and a Le Mans-ready Dodge Challenger are at it again. This time, the team has put together a stunning widebody Nissan 240SX for time attack duty.

Evidently designed for an unnamed Swedish client, the turbocharged, 600-horsepower 200SX was inspired by a GT 500-class Japan GT Touring Car (although apparently they’ve taken a few theoretical liberties, as the GT 500 class is capped at 500 horses). That aside, we think this is a killer-looking job, one that we’d happily check out at the track.
