When a pair of Russian pilots wanted to set a local ice-speed record, they chose a stock Nissan GT-R for the task. Roman Rusinov, a Russian race car driver, and Andrey Leontjev, a Russian auto journalist, took Godzilla to Lake Baikal and ran it up to 294.8 kilometers per hour (182.8 miles per hour) across frozen stuff estimated to be 1.4 meters thick.
While the worldwide record of 205.48 mph was set by Juha Kankkunen in a Bentley Supersports Convertible, the mark achieved by Rusinov and Leontjev establishes a new Russian record. Well done, boys.

PREMIER Automobiles Sdn Bhd (PASB) had officially launched the new Ford Focus ST a week ago, we had a closer look and tested the car along road of Brunei.

image

I heard people talking about why the new ST lost a cylinder and replaced by a 2.0 litre four cylinder powered with a turbo called Ecoboost . Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

When we drove the car on the highway, first thing that we noticed was the immerse power. With an upgrade of 30 horsepower more from the previous model was thrilling.

As the engine reached 2500rpm, the torque felt on the steering and pull easily to 120km/h.

As we drove the ST, it reminds you and reminded me how car was fun, the ST only available with manual 6  speed transmission and we miss those moments shifting the gears with a stick. Nowadays most cars are influence by F1 technology most of it now installed with pedal shift

Software remaps are an extremely popular way to easily increase the horsepower and torque ratings of your car. The operation takes no more than a few minutes, and the moment you start up the engine for the first time, your car has more power – just like that. As Chris Harris saysin this latest video by Drive, it used to take so much physical work to extract more power from an engine, now it takes mere seconds.

The aim of the video is to see whether a chip-tuned Audi S4, with a supercharged V6 engine under the bonnet, can be made to accelerate as quickly as the pinnacle of the A4 range, the V8-powered RS4. We're not going to spoil it for you, but let's just say it gets you thinking…

It is hard to reach a conclusion on the matter, without disclosing the details of the video, and therefore making it far less appealing. Since modern cars are so intricately linked to their on-board computers, altering the software seems like a pretty good way to fettle with a new and modern car – it's far more intriguing than lifting the bonnet and seeing a big slab of branded plastic covering all of the interesting bits up.
